Welcome from the Chair of Governors

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends,

As the newly elected Chair of Governors may I welcome you to the Governor’s section of the school website.

At Leigh Primary School, Governors, staff, parents and children strive to work as a team, building on success in a happy, creative, high attaining environment where everyone feels valued.

As Governors we become involved with a variety of issues including finance, pupil welfare, policies, building/grounds maintenance and staff appointments.  However, without a doubt, we consider that our most important role is to ensure the welfare and education of the children.

We are justifiably very proud of the children in our school and the good progress and results they achieve across the curriculum.  This gives rise for me to take the opportunity to thank all the parents who encourage and support their children so admirably.  In a good school, such as ours, parents take a great interest in their child’s learning and development.  It is with your valuable support during their years of primary education that your children’s academic, personal, social and creative skills are nurtured and developed.

Governors are appointed to ensure that objectives are met and that planning for the future is both visionary and realistic. We are here to support and encourage our Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all school personnel so that your children have access to an enriched education and the opportunities that they deserve.

The School Improvement Plan is at the heart of Leigh Primary’s vision and ethos.  It details our aims and objectives for the ongoing development of the school.  Our priorities focus on the following areas:

  • Quality of teaching – continuous professional development of teachers to be able to deliver more outstanding lessons.
  • Pupil achievement and progress – enabling excellent progress for pupils by providing appropriate challenge at all levels.
  • Constant review and seeking of ways to improve the provision in the Foundation Stage
  • Behaviour and safety of pupils – developing the role of the School council and citizenship
  • Leadership and management – developing our senior leadership team, subject leaders and the governing body.

Parents and Governors have key roles to play in being part of the supportive team helping Leigh Primary (soon to become The Endeavour Academy) to maintain high standards for all our children both now, and for future generations.  Should you wish to know more details of the roles of Governors and the work they do I would encourage you to follow the links below.

Equally should you wish to contact me to discuss any matter further please do so by first contacting our Headteacher via the School Office.

I look forward to opportunities to meet with you during the months ahead and thank you in anticipation of your continued support as we all work together to strive to make Leigh Primary into an “Outstanding School”.

Best regards

Keith Robinson
