At Endeavour Academy, excellent attendance and punctuality is everyone’s responsibility. We know that regular, punctual attendance lays the foundation for strong academic outcomes, confident learners, and positive wellbeing. Every day in school matters. Each lesson builds on the last, and children who attend consistently are more likely to thrive—socially, emotionally, and academically.

We work closely with families, Tameside Local Authority, and education partners to promote strong attendance across our school community. Our aim is to provide tailored support to families and remove barriers to attendance, so that every child has the best possible opportunity to succeed.

The evidence is clear, when pupils attend regularly, they achieve more, stay safer, develop stronger relationships, and build the foundations for brighter futures.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s attendance, don’t hesitate to talk to us.

If your child is absent due to sickness or for any other reason, please let us know by 9am on their first day of absence using any of the following methods:

The phone call needs to be made each day of your child's absence, unless the absence has been agreed in advance, for example, if your child is going into hospital for an operation.

If we do not receive a message explaining your child’s absence, we will follow our usual procedures to make sure everything is okay. This includes sending text messages or calling you. If we are still unable to make contact, we may carry out a home visit as part of our duty to check that the child is safe and well.

We recognise that families may experience difficulties from time to time — whether related to health, housing, routines, or wellbeing — and we want you to know that we are here to support you. Our approach to attendance is relational and compassionate, and our team works closely with families to understand the reasons behind absences so we can put the right help in place.

Our focus is on support and working together, not judgement.

If you have any concerns or circumstances that may impact your child’s ability to attend school, please contact us as early as possible. We’re here to listen and to help.
